Emily killed Homer Barron because Homer had gossiped to the town that he and Emily had intercourse.

She did not like that very much and was upset as she came from family that was well known and well respected and to be found out just like that would start a huge scandal. In addition, it was more like to be the talk of the town as Homers status and her class are a bit different. She came from a respected family after all. While Homer was a construction worker. However, this was not only the reason she became upset. She was more upset that Homer didnt marry her as it has been said before that he did not want to get married. This made him come off as a player.
